Derek Roeschel, the guide behind Catch 512, has spent a lifetime immersed in the waters of Central Texas. From a young age, fishing was more than just a hobby—it was part of his everyday life. Growing up near the region's rivers and lakes, Derek developed a strong connection to the local waters and built the skills that would eventually shape his career. His hands-on experience and years of dedication have turned a personal passion into a full-time guiding service built on trust, knowledge, and a love for the outdoors.
With a background that includes both recreational fishing and tournament competition, Derek brings a balanced approach to every trip. He’s well-versed in multiple techniques including light tackle, trolling, bottom fishing, and heavy gear strategies. His adaptable style means he can tailor each outing to match the skill level and goals of the angler—whether you're just starting out or fine-tuning your technique. More than anything, Derek’s goal is to make each trip enjoyable, educational, and rewarding.
What truly sets Derek apart is his focus on the full experience. For him, fishing isn’t just about casting and catching—it’s about spending quality time on the water, learning new things, and making memories with friends or family. His calm, encouraging approach helps create a relaxed environment where guests can fully enjoy everything the day has to offer. That personal connection to the sport is reflected in every outing he leads through Catch 512.
To support these trips, Catch 512 runs an 18-foot Ranger Bass Boat, built in 2002 and designed for performance and comfort. With a skiff-style hull and shallow-water versatility, the boat is ideal for navigating Central Texas lakes and rivers. It’s powered by a Yamaha 115HP engine and cruises at speeds up to 50 knots, getting anglers to the bite zone quickly and efficiently. Designed for two anglers, the boat offers a stable, responsive ride—perfect for targeting everything from Largemouth Bass to Hybrid Stripers with confidence.
